From the 2024 Mailbag:

Meritorious Service Medal, Civil Division

When I got the call in 2020 that I was going to be receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, I felt excitement and disbelief. I knew it was a prestigious recognition but it was surreal that it was happening to me.

It was a long wait due to COVID-19 but on March 21st, 2024, I received the medal at Rideau Hall from Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada.

Being amongst the recipients of this award was a profound honor. It recognizes the exceptional achievements and contributions in our respective fields of work and it is exciting to be a part of this exceptional group of people.

I am accepting this award on behalf of every single person who has stood by me and my charity, Kenya Help, for the last 16 years. You have been instrumental in this journey.

Sincerely,
Nancy Stevens
