Our March 2025 update:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onward and upward! Together, we have built an outdoor kitchen and food storage building, complete with an Envirofit Stove. It will be a major benefit to the Global Hope Rescue Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having this kitchen for safe cooking and food storage brings them another step forward towards starting their new lives on their own land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2024<\/strong>, Kenya Help completed another project. Judy\u2019s House, named after Nancy\u2019s mother, was built for the teen boys at Global Hope Rescue. It is a place for the older teens to learn responsibility and ownership while living on the grounds of the rescue centre. It comes complete with a 5,000 litre water tank and the older boys are thrilled to be moving in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2023 Update for Kenya Help and the Global Boy\u2019s Rescue Centre:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global can become self-sustaining with the help of animals provided to eat and sell. Sustainable farming results in food security while also promoting water security at the Centre. The need to become self-sustaining was started recently by the construction completion of a pen for all of their farm animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These enclosures play a vital role in managing the health of the animals by providing them with a proper pen. It ensures animal comfort, protects their safety, and lowers their stress levels. The animals are protected from sun, predators, and heavy rains which can all be challenging factors in maintaining their overall health. The pens make it easier to clean, care for, and manage the day-to-day life and activity of the animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cows, rabbits, chickens, goats and sheep will all be living well, as will the boys of the Global Boy’s Rescue Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another amazing 2022 update for Kenya Help and Global Boy\u2019s Rescue Centre<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenya Help has completed a Security Gate and Guard House at Global Boys Rescue and Rehabilitation. Keeping the children safe is the number one priority and with your contributions and support, we are able to do just that! Our partnerships are strong and these amazing projects are possible because of contributors like you<\/em>. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2022 was a great year for Kenya Help and Global Boy\u2019s Rescue Centre<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a road, land excavation and outdoor toilets, we now have a three-story water tower to add to the list! Water storage has been established with two 10,000 litre water tanks. In the past, donors like you have all contributed to helping the Global Boy\u2019s Rescue Centre with development of an outdoor kitchen, water tanks, farm animals and food storage. With so many children living in the slums, without family, food or water, homeless children are being rescued by Joseph Njoroge, a former street child himself.

Global is renting their small home and it is bursting at the seams. They now have their own land and because of Kenya Help donors, we have been working hard to assist in building a home for the children.

Having tanks as a resource for clean water allows them to spend less time traveling to unsafe and unsanitary sources and provides a safety net to fall back on in times of extreme drought. Rainwater collecting tanks at Global will give them reliable, safe and convenient access to water for themselves and their farm animals, and have it available to assist in the build of their new home.

As well as land excavation and outdoor toilets. <\/strong>The progress for a new Global Boy\u2019s Rescue Centre is well on the way. All donations will be moving to a new boy\u2019s home, water tanks, food storage and a better future for the children! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

KINATCO Centre 2022 UPDATE: Even through COVID, Kenya Help has still been working hard to change the lives of the people in Kenya. Together with donors, volunteers and CanAssist Africa Relief Trust, we have been able to make changes in Mathare Slums, a place we went to visit in 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is with great pleasure that we announce the completion of the  Kinatco Community Centre in Mathare, Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre was opened on June 23rd<\/sup>, 2021, with a full ceremony and dignitaries from Parliament there for the opening ceremony. Everyone is excited to be able to bring the community together for meetings and projects; children\u2019s lunch programs; climate change workshops; women\u2019s health and fertility workshops; boxing club for the street kids; youth reproductive workshops; health and hygiene learning; and many more community events will all happen there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020 Update:<\/strong> COVID-19 has made us all rethink, re-work, and figure out a new way of life. Kenya Help has been in the same boat, but the work has still been ongoing in Kenya. After a visit to Mathare Slums in 2019, the KH team knew we needed to help. The Community Centre, KINATCO, was in a terrible state. It was dark, unsafe, and burned in a fire.<\/p>\n\n\n

The main goal was to reconstruct KINATCO into a stone building in order to offer a safe and common place for the different activities and events that can be used by the people, for the people, and by local organizations. This public land has been owned and managed by the community since the 1970\u2019s. KH did not hesitate to step up and help support the work to rebuild the Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
