However the seeds for its creation were sown during Nancy\u2019s first trip to Africa in 2005, working as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. She then volunteered in several other African countries before making Kenya her home away from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignleft is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Founders Message\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/423777788?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"540\" height=\"960\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The knowledge Nancy gained working on these various projects created a vision of \u2018doing things differently\u2019 to continue her mission of changing the lives of others in Africa. Working with the community leaders and elders has been her focus; to work together for the same goals. Kenya Help encourages self-sustainability, builds schools, and provides food and clean drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/TBiTc_-_H_mxHggYbOaw90JZXrftof9zLGmg8FQBhGn92ra3eJpSZqkN1cfrRZTXuQNNsS0EkoJ353fsj73X3Np1-7tx-6itIWwjLSt_RJ-7-t5Ll4hGzl5ounVHt6G2q82FBVsd\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:272px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Nancy\u2019s documentary \u201cThe Kenya Help Project\u201d was premiered at Queen\u2019s University in 2010 and she has been recognized for her work in Kenya by receiving the 2011 Peace Medal Award from the Kingston YMCA as well as an Honorary Diploma in June 2012 from St Lawrence College.
